At its core, whiskey distilling is an exercise in applied chemistry and process control.
This hobby allowed me to step away from digital logic and work directly with thermodynamics,
fluid dynamics, and biological fermentation. It requires strict attention to temperature
curves, timing, and sanitation to produce a clean, high-quality yield.

Mash & Fermentation:
Formulating custom mash bills and managing the conversion of starches to fermentable sugars.
Monitoring yeast health, pH levels, and ambient temperature to ensure a consistent,
stall-free fermentation process.

Still Operation & Thermodynamics:
Running the still requires precise thermal management. Understanding the boiling points
of different volatile compounds allows for accurate "cuts"—separating the harsh foreshots
and heads from the desirable hearts, and knowing exactly when to cut off the tails.

Aging & Maturation:
Experimenting with various oak treatments, char levels, and aging durations to develop
the final color, flavor profile, and mouthfeel of the spirit.

Equipment Fabrication:
Modifying and maintaining the distillation hardware. Upgrading seals, managing
cooling-water flow rates for the condenser, and ensuring the structural integrity of the copper
and stainless steel components.
